Our first ever cd is done and will be arriving soon from the manufacturer. You can download the mp3’s here (free download). I think the title, “Make a Joyful Noise!” really captures what our worship team is all about. We aren’t paid, professional musicians. We don’t have a huge budget for recording. We all work real jobs. Leading worship and recording is something we do in our “spare” time. In fact, living in a small town like The Dalles, we are incredibly blessed to have any musicians in our church at all, but the Lord has blessed us with some incredibly talented people over the years.
Our goal in worship is always to give the Lord our best. Granted, our best may not sound as good as some of my favorite worship bands (think Paul Baloche, David Crowder, Lincoln Brewster, Indelible Grace, Hillsong, All Sons & Daughters, Passion, Sons of Korah, Sojourn, etc). We are making the best “joyful noise” we can with the people and the giftings God has given us. I’m amazed at how we continue to grow and improve as a worship team and I pray the Lord will allow us to make and record more music in the years to come. I’m so thankful to the Lord for how He has let us be a part of what He is doing through worship!
I especially want to thank our current worship team, who appear on this recording:
- Dale Hammick- Percussion, keyboard, backing vocals. Dale was also a huge help to me in recording, mixing and mastering. We barely scratched the surface on this cd of what Dale can do musically.
- Liz Hammick- Lead and backing vocals. Liz always shows up to practice with a cheerful outlook and great enthusiasm, even when she’s just getting off a long work day or been busy with parenting her and Dale’s two daughters.
- Jim Gray- Bass Guitar, backing vocals. Jim is another one with great enthusiasm and energy. I don’t think I know anyone who has a busier schedule, but he is always faithful, which is the thing I appreciate about him the most. He’s been there on the bass since I first started leading worship, and I can’t imagine doing this without him.
I also want to thank all the people who have been a part of our worship team over the years. Each of you brought something special to the group. No matter how long you were with us, I’m grateful for the time you were able to give. I have some fond memories of those times!
Also, I want to thank our CGCF Church Family and especially our pastor, Bob Middleton for your love and encouragement. Also, thanks for your patience as we have tried new things, some of which work and some that don’t! It is truly a blessing and a privilege to lead God’s people in worship. I pray the Lord will continue to let us serve Him in that capacity for many years to come.
Finally, specially thanks to our families, who have given us so much love and support and are willing to give us the time we need to practice and rehearse. We wouldn’t be able to do this without you!
