While I Live

This is another favorite of our congregation. This is a very simple yet profound song. As a worship team, we strive to provide a variety of songs. I think there is a place for “simple” songs like this just as there is a place for the rich lyrics found in so many older hymns. We do both, and just about everything in between. The chorus is what resonates with our congregation the most, “Jesus, Savior, Jesus, Lord.”. The song makes a simple yet profound statement that Jesus is our Lord and Savior and that while we live, we will seek and honor Him.

I think this one was written by Bill Batstone, but I’m not really sure. Searching CCLI, I found a song with the same title but no other information. There’s also a possibility that this is another song written at Applegate Christian Fellowship back in the day. There are several songs like this that our Pastor, Bob Middleton picked up when he was at Applegate and brought with him to The Dalles. If anyone has access to an original recording of this song or knows for sure who wrote it, I’d be interested in finding out more.

My God is My Rock (Psalm 18)

A new recording I’ve been working on. This is one of my favorite worship songs. It’s also a favorite of our congregation. The words are pulled from Psalm 18. Melody and chords by Brett Meador of Athey Creek Christian Fellowship. I love songs that are directly from Scripture. These are the sorts of songs that get stuck in my head and I can hum all day long. I also seem to memorize Scripture better when it’s in song.
