How Great Thou Art

howgreatthouartOur Pastor here at Columbia Gorge Christian Fellowship did something different this Sunday. He took a break from verse by verse through 2 Samuel and did a teaching on the hymn, How Great Thou Art. Some interesting insights into the story of how the hymn was written, relevant Bible verses, and insight into worship in general. Check it out.

Also, here’s our “Retuned” version of this classic hymn.

A Mighty Fortress: Two Versions

A Mighty FortressI’ve been working on recording a new cd the past few weeks and based on an idea from a friend, decided to record vocal and instrumental versions of the songs. Here’s the initial mixes of the first one that’s “mostly” done. “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” is one of Martin Luther’s most beloved and well known hymns. Here are my Retuned versions.

A Mighty Fortress Instrumental

The concept of instrumental versions of hymns is nothing new, but recently I’ve been enjoying instrumental albums from Bethel Music: Their first was Without Words followed by Without Words: Synesthesia. More recently they released Brian & Jenn: After All These Years Instrumental. I particularly enjoy having these on in the background as I’m working or as background music for times of prayer. Be sure to check those links and have a listen.
